## What You Can Post to Slack

Slack connects with an incoming webhook URL, which is tied to one channel. Slack posting is text only: incoming webhooks cannot upload photos or videos.

### Text Messages

Post messages of up to 3,000 characters to the channel your webhook points at — announcements, release notes, links to new content.

## Quick Start: Slack Posting API

Once Slack is connected to a profile, posting is one request. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with an API key from your dashboard and my-brand with your profile name.

### Can I post to Slack via API?

Yes. Connect a Slack incoming webhook to a profile, then send platform[]=slack with /api/upload_text to post a message to that channel.

### Can I post photos or videos to Slack?

No. Slack incoming webhooks only accept text, so Slack posting is text only. Leave Slack out of photo and video posts.

### How do I get an incoming webhook URL?

Create an app at api.slack.com/apps, turn on Incoming Webhooks, add a webhook to your workspace, pick a channel, and copy its URL.

### Can I post to several Slack channels?

Each incoming webhook posts to one channel. Connect each channel's webhook to its own profile.
