Social Media Automation in Zapier
Wire any of Zapier's 7,000+ apps into Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Reddit, Bluesky, Google Business, Discord, Telegram, Slack, Mastodon and WordPress with one Webhooks step.
Why use IndReelForge inside Zapier?
Zapier is the easiest way to connect SaaS tools with no code — but its native social-media apps (Buffer, Hootsuite, Loomly) are paywalled or limited to one network at a time. IndReelForge replaces all of them with a single Webhooks step that posts to every supported network in one call. One zap, one Authorization header, 16 platforms.
Prerequisite — IndReelForge setup
Three things you need from your dashboard before you build the Zap.
Step 1
Create a profile
In your dashboard create a profile (e.g. main). Its name becomes the user field on every Zap.
Step 2
Connect socials
Open the profile and click Connect next to each network. Each profile holds one account per network.
Step 3
Generate an API key
On the API Keys page, create a key (2FA must be on). Copy it once — you will paste it into the Webhooks header.
Configure the Webhooks step
A six-step setup inside the Zap editor. Once done, the Zap can publish to every connected social account.
- 1
Add the action
Click + in the Zap editor. Search for "Webhooks by Zapier" and pick it.
- 2
Pick "Custom Request"
Choose Custom Request as the action event. (POST also works but Custom Request gives you full control over headers.)
- 3
Set Method = POST and URL
Method: POST. URL: https://api.indreelforge.com/api/upload (use /api/upload_photos for image carousels and /api/upload_text for text-only posts).
- 4
Set the Authorization header
In the Headers section add a row: key = Authorization, value = Apikey YOUR_INREELFORGE_API_KEY. Better — store the key in a Zapier Storage entry and reference it via a previous step so it never appears in the Zap definition.
- 5
Set Data Pass-Through to false
Set "Data Pass-Through?" to "false" so Zapier sends only the fields you specify, not every field from the trigger.
- 6
Add the form fields
Add Data rows: user (your profile name), title, platform[] (one row per network — repeat the same key), and a "video" row with the file URL or binary from the previous step. Hit Test to confirm a 200 response.
Pro tip — pass a remote URL instead of a binary
If your trigger emits a public file URL (Drive, Dropbox, S3), use the field video_url instead of uploading the binary. IndReelForge fetches and processes the file server-side — much faster and avoids Zapier's 25 MB step payload cap.
Security — keep keys out of Zap exports
When you share or duplicate a Zap, header values travel with it. Store the API key in a previous Storage step and reference it as a Zapier variable so the literal key never lands in another account.
Fan-out in one step
Add platform[] three times if you want to post to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube simultaneously. One Zap task, one upload record, three published posts.
Common gotchas
- Zapier's default 25 MB step payload limit kills big videos — use
video_url. - Free plan can't post to TikTok — upgrade to Basic+ first.
- Set Data Pass-Through to false or Zapier sends every field from the trigger.
Example Zaps you can build today
Real patterns the IndReelForge team has shipped — copy as starting points.
New row in Google Sheets → Publish
Editors add posts to a Google Sheet. Zapier triggers on each new row, looks up the file URL and caption, and fires one Webhooks step that publishes to every platform listed in the row.
Notion publish-checkbox → Fan-out
A Notion database column called "Publish" becomes the trigger. When the checkbox flips, Zapier sends the page properties to IndReelForge and writes the upload_id back to a "Published" column.
Calendly booking → announce on socials
A new Calendly booking triggers a celebratory announcement. GPT formats a sentence, Zapier hits the IndReelForge upload_text endpoint, and the post lands on X, LinkedIn and Threads in seconds.
Stripe purchase → social proof post
A new paid subscription on Stripe triggers a "milestone" post (anonymised). The Zap composes a message and the Webhooks step publishes it to every social channel — instant social proof.
FAQ
Does Zapier have a native IndReelForge app?
A native Zapier app is on the roadmap. Today the recommended setup is the built-in "Webhooks by Zapier" app — it gives you full access to every IndReelForge endpoint without waiting on connector updates and works with every Zapier plan including the free tier.
How do I send a video file from Zapier?
Use a previous step (Google Drive, Dropbox, S3) that emits the file as a URL or binary, then in the Webhooks step pick "POST" with payload type "Form" and add a video field referencing the file. The IndReelForge backend accepts both direct uploads and remote URLs (pass video_url instead of video).
Can I post to multiple platforms in one Zap?
Yes. Add the "platform[]" field multiple times in the form-data body — once for each network. Zapier supports duplicate field names by adding multiple "Data" rows with the same key. IndReelForge fans the post out to every listed platform in a single call.
How do I avoid hardcoding my API key in a Zap?
Store the key as a Zapier Storage entry (using the "Storage by Zapier" app) or as a Zapier Variable in a Sub-Zap. Then reference it from the Authorization header. When you share the Zap, the credential reference travels but the value stays in your account.
Will high-volume Zaps blow up my Zapier quota?
Each upload is one Zap task. IndReelForge charges nothing per upload on paid plans, so the only cost is Zapier's task quota. If you push thousands of posts a day, the n8n or Make integrations are usually cheaper since they meter operations differently.
